SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant – West Yorkshire
£90–£110 per day

We are looking for Behaviour Support Assistants to join a range of SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) and alternative provision settings across West Yorkshire.
This role is ideal for individuals who are calm under pressure, empathetic, and confident supporting young people with additional behavioural and emotional needs.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:
* Work with pupils displaying challenging behaviour, anxiety, or emotional dysregulation.
* Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
* Support pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis to re-engage with learning.
* Use de-escalation and restorative approaches to manage behaviour effectively.
* Support classroom learning, transitions, and break times.
* Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and SENCOs to ensure consistent strategies.
We’re Looking For:
* Experience in SEMH, SEN, youth work, or care settings.
* Confident, proactive, and adaptable individuals.
* A Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
* Team Teach, MAPA, or other behaviour management training desirable.
* A UK driving licence and access to transport is advantageous.
* Personal experience supporting vulnerable young people is welcomed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
