The role of the Operations Manager has the overall operational responsibility of the service, ensuring the smooth running of the service and the allocation and management of staff. You will be responsible for the delivery of excellent operational services within your area, regularly supervising Service Managers who are your direct reports. The Operations Manager will also hold the post of Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). To be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient provision of support to the people living in service. The overall objective is to increase their social development and life skills to enable them to live as independent adults in the wider community. You must ensure that the services are developed and delivered in consideration to an individual's racial, culture/religious origins, language, gender, sexual orientation and disability, whilst ensuring that all regulatory and procedural requirements are met, as identified by current legislation, regulations and policy & procedures. Key Responsibilities: To monitor and support the delivery of person centred services to all people using our service within your defined area. To monitor and support the health and safety of both people using the service and support staff. To ensure that the actions of all staff directly supporting people using the service support their care, protection and well-being, and in compliance with external regulations, standards and monitoring bodies. To provide supervision and support to Service Managers / Service Leads and/or Senior Support Workers through effective recruitment and selection, coaching and performance management as well as support to manage their team. To ensure effective financial administration of the services delivered, through the effective deployment of staff to meet the commissioned hours of the service. To use the IT systems available, to allow you to effectively manage and analyse your staff teams, incidents, quality assurance, training and occupancy. To work effectively with external agencies, to promote the work of the company and to increase referrals and placements within the service in line with defined business targets, in conjunction with the Head of Operations and the Business Development function of the business To develop the knowledge and skills of staff teams through effective induction, and ensuring that mandatory & service specific training is provided as and when required To develop own knowledge and practice relative to continuously promoting the development of all services under your responsibility and your own personal development. For each area of service delivery: Monitor, report and advise on the development methods and systems to communicate, record and report. Identify methods and systems to promote effective communication and engagement with individuals and key people, both internally and externally Develop communication methods and systems to promote effective communication Evaluate communication methods and systems Maintain and share evidence-based records and reports Monitor, report and advise on health and safety practices in the working environment Monitor and report on compliance with health, safety and security regulations and requirements Ensure a schedule of risk assessments exist across specific areas of responsibility Contribute to the development of health, safety and security policies, procedures and practices Monitor, report and advise on practices which promote choice, well-being and protection of all individuals Develop and maintain effective systems and processes to promote the individual's choice about their care and support Monitor and promote the individual's rights to expect and receive respect for their diversity, differences and preferences Monitor and promote the protection of all individuals we support Support the Service Manager/Service Leads to manage services which achieve the best possible outcomes for individuals Monitor and report on service delivery taking into consideration that services are designed and reviewed to promote and maximize the achievement of the best possible outcomes for everyone Monitor and report on person centred approaches/person centred plans across area of responsibility Manage and monitor systems of the assessment of risk of abuse, failure to protect and harm to self and others, to work in a positive way with the Local Authority Safeguarding Team Monitor that people using the service to maintain family links if they so desire Manage and monitor systems for supporting service users to self-administer medication Manage and monitor systems that record incidents by individuals we support and analyse for trends to improve service delivery and outcomes Ensure individuals and groups are supported appropriately when experiencing significant life events and transitions Support the Service Managers / Service Leads to design and implement a service which addresses the needs of individuals experiencing significant life events Ensure the service responds effectively to individuals experiencing major life changes Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the right support and response to effectively support individuals when there are significant life events Ensure individuals who use services are fully involved in the delivery of service Promote and monitor the people we support and their involvement across area of responsibility Ensure individuals who use our services are involved in the recruitment of their staff teams, where they choose to do so Embed the REACH standards into daily practice Compliance Ensure that all services delivered are compliant with the required external regulatory standards Ensure that all services delivered are compliant to the support specification provided by the funding authority Audit services regularly and report accordingly Continuously improve service performance across services for which you are responsible Recognise and encourage innovation across services for which you are responsible Drive forward best practice and critical analysis of service delivery to ensure improvements are embedded Supervisory Responsibility Supervise, mentor and act as a positive role model to Service Managers / Service Leads to ensure effective and efficient person centred service delivery to all people who use the service Conduct annual performance appraisals for Service Managers / Service Leads.
