Pathway Coordinator (Medical Secretary)

We have an opportunity at the Royal Derby Hospital within Gastroenterology & Hepatology for a full time (37.5 h/week) and part time (30 h/week) Pathway Coordinator to join the secretarial team.
You will be part of an administration team of secretarial staff providing an efficient professional medical secretarial service within an established team of clinicians.
You will need to be an enthusiastic and motivated team player with excellent communication and problem‑solving skills. You will require high levels of tact, diplomacy with the ability to prioritise your own workload effectively.
Responsibilities include: typing clinical correspondence, appointment scheduling, diary management, and handling telephone queries. A flexible approach to workload is essential.
Main duties of the job
* Previous secretarial or administration experience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* An understanding of the 18‑week RTT process
* Knowledge of the Trust Patient Access Policy
* Knowledge and familiarisation of medical terminology
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet and e‑mail systems
* NVQ level III Business and Administration or equivalent knowledge and skills
* Minute‑taking experience preferred but training can be provided

Person Specification
Training and Experience
* A good standard of English to O level / GCSE equivalent
* Medical secretary experience
Planning and Organisation
* The ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload and work to specified deadlines
IT Experience
* Demonstrates IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office packages
* Advanced keyboard skills / audio / copy typing
* Trained / Access to Trust systems such as Lorenzo and T‑Pro
Skills
* Extensive use of PC and other office equipment
* Attention to detail and ability to proof‑read
