Payroll Manager

Location: Welwyn Garden City | Hybrid (2 days in office) | 37 hours per week

Salary: £51,848 – £55,163 (depending on experience)

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and enhance our payroll function.

The Role

This is a key leadership position responsible for delivering a comprehensive payroll service across the organisation. You will ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the full payroll lifecycle while supporting a positive employee experience. Your responsibilities will include:

* Managing the end-to-end payroll process and overseeing pensions administration
* Acting as the main liaison with our external payroll and pensions provider (MHR)
* Implementing pay awards, bonuses, and recognition schemes
* Providing data insights to support decision-making
* Coaching and developing a small in-house payroll team

About You

We are looking for a proven payroll professional with:

* Significant experience of Payroll Systems preferably MHR iTrent
* A strong understanding of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and compliance standards
* Excellent data analysis and advanced Excel skills
* Proven leadership and team management experience
* Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills

Experience within the education or catering sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
