You'll be providing laboratory and project support for the development of new and existing products within the Combination Product and Device R&D Team. This role involves performing and documenting laboratory work, ensuring project and shelf-life reporting milestones are achieved within agreed timescales, and complying with cGxP, HSE, and Regulatory requirements. You will support sample management, logistics, and calibration/service of equipment within the CPD Abbots Park Laboratory, with contributions to continuous improvement of lab processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning and performing laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data supporting scientific investigations;
2. Carrying out all work activities in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory guidelines;
3. Sourcing, maintaining, and operating standard laboratory equipment, such as tensile/torsional force testers, microscopes, balances, and optical/probe CMM;
4. Recording and interpreting results to present to senior colleagues;
5. Using computers and performing mathematical calculations for graph preparation, tabulated results, and statistical analysis;
6. Keeping up to date with technical developments that can improve efficiency and reliability;
7. Conducting research on relevant topics;
8. Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and checks;
9. Creating, maintaining, and developing laboratory documentation and processes;
10. Supporting multiple projects across various device platforms.
Experience in a Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry laboratory environment, or other regulated industry, is desirable. We are also open to motivated and bright recent university graduates. A degree in a relevant discipline is preferable but not essential. Candidates should have the ability to analyze and interpret data, compile reports, and summarize results. Knowledge of cGMP/GLP is a plus. Experience with laboratory equipment management and calibration, statistical techniques (e.g., t-tests, Gauge R&R), attention to detail, and the ability to complete tasks independently are important. Leadership experience in driving tasks to completion, adaptability, high work standards, good communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are also valued.
