Job Description – Cleaner (Day Centre)
Job Title: Cleaner
Reports to: Service Manager
Location: Aspire Day Service, 2 Crofton Close, Lincoln, LN3 4NT.
Hours: 30 hours per week.
Role Purpose
The Cleaner will ensure that the day centre is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety for service users, staff, and visitors. This role is vital in creating a welcoming, safe, and comfortable environment for all.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out daily cleaning duties across all areas of the day centre, including activity rooms, offices, toilets, kitchens, and communal spaces.
* Vacuum, mop, dust, polish, and disinfect surfaces and floors as required.
* Empty bins and dispose of waste safely, following centre procedures.
* Clean and sanitise toilets and kitchen facilities to high hygiene standards.
* Ensure cleaning supplies and materials are used effectively and stored safely.
* Monitor stock levels of cleaning products and report when supplies need replenishing.
* Report any maintenance issues, damage, or hazards promptly to the Day Centre Manager.
* Follow all health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding procedures.
* Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity and privacy of service users at all times.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Previous cleaning experience in a similar environment (e.g., care, education, healthcare, or community setting).
* Knowledge of cleaning methods, safe use of cleaning equipment, and COSHH regulations.
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
* Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work.
* Good communication skills and a respectful manner when working around staff, service users, and visitors.
Desirable:
* Experience working in a care or day centre environment.
* Basic first aid and/or health & safety training.
Additional Information
* This role may require some flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
* The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check due to the nature of the setting.
Skills
* Proficient driving skills with a valid driving licence is preferred for roles requiring travel between locations.
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal, to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
* Excellent customer service skills to ensure a positive experience for all clients.
