Finance Assistant Apprentice
Salary: ?
Working hours: 37 hours per week, term time only plus inset days and 2 weeks school holiday working, 41 working weeks a year. Daily hours to be confirmed.
Start date: ASAP
Qualification Duration: approx. 17 months
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support sourcing resources, equipment, stock, books, and supplies to meet academy requirements and achieve value for money.
* Assist with processing purchase orders, verifying accuracy, and distributing to suppliers and budget holders.
* Assist with invoice processing, ensuring compliance with Financial Regulations.
* Assist with processing income, staff expenses, and credit card transactions in the finance system.
* Ensure timely returns and receipt of refunds or credit notes.
* Assist with routine BACS payments.
* Maintain a robust filing system for paper records and upload invoices to the finance system.
* Check and reconcile statements from suppliers with the finance system.
* Work closely with school Office Managers to ensure adherence to Financial Regulations and guidance.
* Assist in managing school trip finances in liaison with school offices.
* Support month-end procedures such as journal postings.
* Review outstanding POs, GRNs, invoices, aged debtors, and creditors monthly.
* Assist in raising sales invoices and ensuring prompt payment, including chasing as necessary.
General Responsibilities:
* Participate in performance and development reviews, identifying learning and training opportunities.
* Comply with health and safety responsibilities.
* Follow the Trust's Equality and Diversity Policy.

* Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

* Good communication skills and sensitivity when dealing with others.

Essential Qualifications:
* English and Maths GCSE at grades A-C (4-9) or equivalent Functional Skills.
