The Role
The Lead AI Engineer will be a foundational technical leader in designing, building, and deploying AI systems to drive the growth and feature set of Healf Zone, our personalised wellbeing solution.
This role demands deep machine learning expertise, a product-focused mindset, and the ability to translate complex health data into actionable, personalised features for our users, specifically accelerating engagement and conversion to the Healf Zone membership offering.
The Lead AI Engineer will work closely with the CTO, Engineering, and Product teams to ensure all AI systems are directly supporting key business metrics for Healf Zone.
Where You’ll Make An Impact
AI & Machine Learning Development
• Lead the technical delivery of AI features for Healf Zone, ensuring accuracy, interpretability, and seamless integration with the user experience.
• Own the end-to-end MLOps pipeline, including model training, versioning, serving, monitoring, and continuous improvement in a production environment.
• Research and implement state-of-the-art ML models (e.g., deep learning, large language models, reinforcement learning) to drive innovation in personalisation.
Data Engineering & Infrastructure
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to structure and maintain the most valuable consumer health dataset in Europe, ensuring data quality, security, and ethical use.
• Architect scalable data pipelines necessary for model training, feature engineering, and inference at global scale.
• Ensure the AI infrastructure is robust, cost-efficient, and supports rapid experimentation and deployment cycles.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Act as the technical expert and mentor for junior AI/ML engineers as the team scales.
• Work cross-functionally with Product Managers to translate user needs and business objectives into technical AI requirements and roadmaps.
• Define and champion best practices for AI/ML development, testing, and deployment within the Engineering team.
What You’ll Bring
• Advanced AI/ML Expertise: 5+ years experience designing, building, and deploying machine learning models into high-scale production environments, ideally in a consumer-facing platform.
• Recommendation Systems: Proven experience with building and optimizing personalized recommendation engines, personalization systems, or digital intelligence platforms.
• Python & ML Frameworks: Expert proficiency in Python and major ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
• Data & MLOps: Strong understanding of data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery) and experience implementing robust MLOps practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD for ML).
• Product-Focused Delivery: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with product teams and rapidly iterate on AI features that deliver clear customer value.
Bonus Points If You Have
• Experience working with multi-modal data sources (biomarkers, genomics, wearables, surveys, behavioral data).
• Familiarity with health-tech, regulated consumer data (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), or wellness data.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for scalable AI infrastructure.
• Background in research or application of Large Language Models (LLMs) or Generative AI.
