Senior HGV Technician Salary: £45,000 per annum Contract: Permanent Location: Somerset A large operational service provider in Somerset is seeking an experienced Senior HGV Technician to take a leading role within a busy commercial workshop. This position is ideal for a skilled professional ready to step into a senior post and support the smooth running of a diverse fleet. Role Overview Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to workshop staff, ensuring safe working practices and consistent standards expected of a Senior HGV Technician. Carry out and coordinate inspections, servicing, diagnostics and repairs across a wide range of heavy vehicles and equipment. Maintain high levels of workmanship, ensuring all tasks meet legal, technical and quality requirements while minimising downtime. Promote a strong safety culture, investigate incidents, and ensure workshop tools and equipment are used and maintained correctly. Plan workloads, manage stock levels, and maintain accurate records to support compliance and audit processes. Offer technical advice, assess repair options, and make informed decisions balancing safety, cost and operational needs. Build effective working relationships with suppliers, contractors and internal teams. What Youll Bring City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance. A minimum of five years experience working as an HGV technician in a commercial workshop. Strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, including COSHH. Ability to work independently, safely and effectively in a physically demanding environment.
