Senior Cost Consultant – Education (Chartered MRICS Required)

This senior role involves leading cost & commercial management for our key strategic education sector clients, delivering high‑value services from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
* Advise on cost planning, project budgeting, forecasting and strategic procurement services for key education sector clients.
* Provide comprehensive cost management services from inception to completion for ongoing and new commissions in education.
* Own and present cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
* Lead procurement processes, ensuring pre‑qualification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
* Support delivery of cost management services to achieve strategic outcomes and KPIs, influencing the development of overarching plans.
* Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies and contract selection, producing detailed procurement reports.
* Apply value‑management techniques at the outset of projects to maximise value for money.
* Estimate, manage and prepare detailed cost plans, including final cost presentations to stakeholders.
* Supervise preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses, assisting in formal execution.
* Advising on administration of building contract terms, and manage cost control and reporting throughout the contract, producing monthly post‑contract cost reports.
* Identify costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.
* Evaluate claims for delays and additional costs from contractors and nominated subcontractors/suppliers.
* Provide advice on the issuance of certificates of practical completion and final accounts.
* Manage, coach and mentor a team of Cost Consultants, delivering improvements in systems and processes and fostering continuous improvement.
* Develop and maintain internal and external relationships, influence key stakeholders, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Collaborate towards net‑zero carbon transition, proactively managing associated carbon emissions and reductions during project delivery.
Qualifications
* Chartered MRICS and a degree in Quantity Surveying/Cost Management (or equivalent).
* Detailed knowledge of NEC Contracts.
* Sound understanding of value engineering, life‑cycle costing, contract law and construction contractual frameworks.
* Proficient knowledge and expertise in the Education/Public Sector.
* Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder‑management skills.
