Special Needs Support Staff - Secondary SEND School Agency: Tempest Location: Stockport Start Date: 5th January Contract: Full-time, Long-term Pay: Competitive (dependent on experience) Tempest are working in partnership with a specialist Secondary Special Needs School in Stockport to recruit an experienced and dedicated Special Needs Support Staff Member. The school accommodates students aged 6-18 with a wide range of additional needs, including but not limited to ASC (verbal and non-verbal), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, and complex needs. About the Role The school is ideally looking for support staff to work within their Primary department, though they can be flexible for the right candidate. This is a full-time position, supporting students who require consistency, emotional support, and tailored learning approaches. You will be expected to: Support students with a broad range of SEND needs Assist with classroom learning, communication, and behaviour regulation Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals Provide pastoral and emotional support where needed Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment Requirements: Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (essential) Experience supporting vulnerable young people or adults School-based experience preferred, though care, youth work, residential and other SEND-support backgrounds are also welcomed A calm, patient, and resilient approach Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Travel & Accessibility Due to the school's limited public transport access, it is strongly recommended that candidates are either local or able to drive.
