Service Details
Our bedded units are located within Skylark, Henderson and South Bristol Community Hospital and have built a reputation for delivering excellent patient‑centred care and enthusiastic teamwork. Our service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with shifts ranging from day and night to weekend and bank holiday coverage.
Role Overview
As a Healthcare Support Worker you will assist with the direct care of patients delegated to and supervised by a registered nurse, supporting the nursing team and multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care centred around recovery and rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
* Assist registered nurses and healthcare professionals in the delivery of individualised holistic care with compassion, dignity and respect.
* Work with the multidisciplinary team and participate in risk assessments such as nutrition, pressure area care, continence and falls to prevent harm.
* Assist patients with care and nutritional support and needs.
* Safely and accurately record physiological observations (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature) and report to the registered nurse responsible for the patient.
* Report back any relevant care information to the registered nurse.
* Assist patients to mobilise safely using equipment and techniques prescribed in their care plan.
* Promote a culture of ambulatory care by supporting patients to become independent with washing, dressing, and encouraging mobility from admission.
* Assist in the provision of prescribed programmes of care (e.g., rehabilitation and therapy goals) under supervision and guidance.
* Support patient‑centred rehabilitation to facilitate safe and timely discharges that reflect individual choice and maximise independence.
