Consultant Perinatal Psychiatry
South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust is recruiting for a 1-year Fixed Term Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Perinatal Psychiatry team based at Fox View Hub, Staincliffe, Halifax Road, Dewsbury, WF134AD.
Job Summary
Full time, 10 programmed activities per week plus on-call. (Part-time may be considered). The role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will be an integral role within the Perinatal Psychiatry team.

Essential Requirements
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult psychiatry OR within six months of gaining CCT.
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Appropriate UK driving licence holding and willingness to use for work.
* Excellent knowledge in specialty, clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective, and wide medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
* Able to provide clinical leadership to a multi‑professional team and liaise with a wide variety of agencies.
* Ability to work flexibly and efficiently, prioritise conflicting demands, manage time and resources within a team.
* Commitment to annual appraisal and revalidation.
* Ability to use electronic records.
* Ability to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
* Participation in continuous professional development, research or service evaluation and clinical audit or quality improvement programmes.
* Engage in Trust Occupational Health initiatives and act in a manner to protect the Health & Safety of patients and staff (e.g. flu jab).
* Smart professional appearance.
Desirable Attributes
* In good standing with the GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
* Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to this post within NHS or comparable service.
* Proactive leadership and problem avoidance/problem solving skills.
* Experience caring for close family or friend with mental health needs.
* Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
* Reflect on the purpose of CPD undertaken.
* Experience in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
* Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
* Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients.
* Smoke free commitment (post holder expected to lead by example as a non‑smoker).
Salary and Benefits
The starting salary for this post is aligned with point 04 of the consultant pay scale (£119,490 – £145,478), in line with Trust policy for newly appointed consultants. Placement on the scale will be reviewed where applicable NHS consultant experience can be evidenced.
