About Lucas
Lucas is a lively, inquisitive 6-year-old boy who has autism. He lives with his parents and sibling and attends a specialist school in Newcastle along with his brother. Lucas loves to go trampolining and soft play; he enjoys motion and movement play. He would like to access local parks and adventure playgrounds, and must always be supervised as he is an escape artist with no awareness of danger. He likes “cause and effect” toys, especially light up ones. Lucas will require personal care while in your care. He is non-verbal and communicates with gestures and noises.
Responsibilities
* Accompany and support Lucas to access the local community and activities of his choice.
* Provide personal care as needed while ensuring Lucas’s safety.
* Supervise outings and outings to places such as parks, trampolines, soft play, and adventure playgrounds.
* Support routines and activities while maintaining a supportive, patient approach.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience of working with children with autism and challenging behaviours.
* Resilient, with a good level of fitness as Lucas is a strong, sturdy boy.
* Lucas uses a buggy for most outings; a car driver would be preferred but is not essential.
