Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Newcastle Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Are you a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting students with additional needs? GSL Education are seeking committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Newcastle. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education. As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will support students in a one-to-one or small group setting, helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills. Key Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA): Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional needs Assist students in accessing the curriculum and completing tasks Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored support strategies Work closely with teachers to adapt lessons to meet student needs Build strong, positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress Monitor and record student progress and behaviour Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant: Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential) A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach Strong communication and teamwork skills A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs A relevant degree such as Psychology or Education is beneficial An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
