Occupational Therapy Technician
Location: Rushcliffe Independent Hospitals – Male Rehabilitation Mental Health Unit
Hours: 37.50

We’re currently looking for a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Technician to join our male rehabilitation mental health unit. You’ll be working with adults with complex mental health needs in a service that promotes recovery, independence, and positive change.
About the service
Our male rehabilitation unit provides structured, therapeutic care for adult service users living with serious and enduring mental health conditions. The environment is supportive and recovery-focused, with a multidisciplinary team working together to help individuals build the skills they need to move forward.
About the role
As an Occupational Therapy Technician, you’ll support the delivery of evidence-based interventions under the supervision of registered Occupational Therapists. This includes both group and 1:1 activities within the unit and out in the community. Your work will focus on developing daily living skills, improving wellbeing, and helping service users regain confidence and autonomy.
You’ll be expected to:
Support the implementation of person-centred care plans
Facilitate structured sessions that promote engagement, independence, and mental wellness
Monitor and record progress, sharing feedback with the clinical team
Adapt routines and environments to improve function and safety
Contribute to a therapeutic, recovery-oriented setting
Carry out relevant administrative and service-related duties
Take part in ongoing supervision, training, and service development
About you
We’re looking for someone with:
A Level 3 Diploma in Occupational Therapy Support or an equivalent qualification
Experience supporting adults with mental health needs
Confidence delivering structured sessions under guidance
A flexible, empathetic, and person-centred approach
Good communication and organisational skills
It would also be great if you have:
Experience in a mental health rehab or inpatient setting
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and recovery models
The ability to speak Welsh (not essential)
