About the Role
We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist setting in Northumberland, supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, or mental health needs. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop independence, and feel supported in all areas of school life.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils reach their learning targets
* Use communication aids, visual supports, and structured routines to promote understanding
* Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
* Support pupils with personal care and emotional regulation when needed
* Contribute to individual progress reports and behaviour support plans
Person Specification
* Experience working with SEND pupils or in a classroom support role desirable
* Nurturing, patient, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Flexible and motivated to learn new strategies
* Committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
