Position Summary
Senior Electrical Engineer – responsible for designing, reviewing, and commissioning electrical systems for water treatment and wastewater projects across the UK. The role includes work on motor control centres, LV distribution, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs, and SCADA systems, spanning both new technology and legacy installations.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and review electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on client sites.
* Produce and review technical specifications and schedules for procurement, including supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
* Apply and contribute to design standards, with a solid understanding of client and industry requirements.
* Challenge client specifications appropriately and defend solutions to complex problems.
* Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including the development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
* Act as technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews for projects across teams.
* Manage interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and produce documentation.
* Seek input from engineers, specialists, clients, and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
* Work closely with commercial, operational, and construction teams to develop efficient, practical, and safe solutions throughout design, construction, and beyond.
* Supervise and mentor graduates and engineers, assisting them to develop knowledge and skills.
* Maintain positive client engagement, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support client aims.
* Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within existing systems.
Qualifications
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
* Chartered or incorporated membership of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
* Experience with water, wastewater, or infrastructure projects.
* Proven ability to deliver high quality outputs in line with design, quality, and safety standards.
* Strong communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical approach to problem solving.
* Proactive and pragmatic mindset.
* Proficient in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
