Why this role is important for CPI’s work

We are looking for a Manager – Electronics to join our Photonics and Electronics team, providing high-level technical leadership and expertise, managing and developing a team to deliver agreed programmes of work to required standards. The Manager will act as technical lead in medium / large scale projects within various Health Tech fields, such as IVD, wearables, sensor technologies, connectivity, and drug delivery devices. The Manager will offer innovative solutions at the technology team level, contributing to development and improvement activities, and identifying future needs of the team to deliver on area strategy.

Key tasks include (but are not limited to):

* Leading and delivering projects involving electronics and production from concept to production, ensuring customer needs and cost targets are met.
* Supervising, mentoring, and developing a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
* Creating and managing the team’s budget, ensuring compliance with financial procedures.
* Contributing to a culture of continuous capability development through coaching, mentoring, and developing colleagues.
* Building and maintaining a network of external stakeholders, customers, partners, research organizations, and authorities to represent CPI and identify future project opportunities.
* Working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate electronics and production processes into medical devices.
* Acting as a credible partner to Bid Development teams, advising on technical elements of bids, and engaging in business development opportunities.
* Providing documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, and software use.


The person we are seeking

* Educated to HNC or Foundation Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus significant industrial experience at a senior level.
* Or educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus relevant industrial experience at a senior level.
* Or educated to master’s degree level (or equivalent) plus significant industrial experience.
* Or educated to PhD level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus relevant industrial experience.
* Completed formal management training or have equivalent experience.
* Significant technical expertise in integration and assembly techniques, with evidence of complex technical problem solving.
* Expertise in Electronics engineering and systems design and development.
* Demonstrates in-depth technical and theoretical knowledge in electronics assembly and integration, recognized as an authority in at least one area.
* Ability to manage complex technical activities independently, implementing innovative solutions.
* Experience supervising a team and managing performance.

Additional desirable qualifications include:

* Supervisory or Management qualification.
* Chartered status with a relevant professional institution.
* Active membership of a professional body.
