Job Description
The Senior Stores Person's primary responsibility is to oversee the day-to-day operations of our stores and goods in inspection activity, ensuring smooth functioning and exceptional service delivery.
The Senior Stroes Person will have 2 direct reports. It will be the Senior Stores Person's responsibility to lead by example, providing guidance and support to team members while maintaining operational efficiency and upholding company standards.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of stores operations, including receiving of goods, inspection, dispatches and inventory management.
To ensure health and safety legislation and policies are adhered to, to ensure a safe and legally compliant working environment.
Unload/load deliveries manually or using appropriate mechanical handling devices, including FLT and overhead crane.
To operate equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Receive stock and paperwork from suppliers, enter data into the relevant Warehouse Management System (WMS) and archive appropriately.
Check all receipt paperwork complies with Certificate of Conformity requirements.
Scan and attach all receipt paperwork to the WMS and file hard copies as required.
Communicate all picking, receipt, inspection, transit/storage movements and set priorities with Planning team and Stores Team Leader
Communicate receipt of all unexpected or non-conforming goods to the Buying/Project departments as appropriate.
Raise and distribute all discrepancy reports in order to resolve receipt anomalies.
Accurately Lot/Batch pick and label stock, maintaining WMS of all stock required and its designated use.
Identify appropriate stock locations and maintain as required.
Clear stock within designated transit areas on a daily basis.
Despatch goods as requested and organise appropriate transport requests in conjunction with senders requirements.
Pack all items appropriately, ensuring the correct advice note and any relevant paperwork is created by the appropriate department prior to dispatch to external parties.
Maintain Stores area housekeeping standards.
Inspect various materials against engineering standards and customer specifications.
Utilise precision tools like callipers, verniers, and micrometers for accurate measurements.
Record and document inspection results in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Retain and retrieve test and inspection records as required.
Arbitrate on the fitness for purpose of materials and implement the rejection procedure if necessary.
Assist with stock take preparation and complete stock checks on both an ongoing and an annual basis.
Responsible for the management, leading and coaching of Stores team members.
Identify training and development needs for staff and action training requests as required to expand their skills, aligning their needs with the business strategy and regulatory requirements.
Train new starters and review their progress regularly to ensure they achieve the required level of job performance and competency.
Oversee Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) management; ensuring adherence to regulations, document control, auditing and effective collaboration with stakeholders to maintain data security.Experience needed:
Holds English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at grade A*-C/9-4
Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements and legislation.
Experience in a comparable role within a similar industry.
Good leadership skills, with the ability to motivate others.
Ability to promote and encourage a culture of teamwork.
Ability to effectively and appropriately delegate duties.
Ability to work off own initiative.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with personnel at all levels of the organisation.
PC literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work to deadlines.
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Systems.
PC literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Knowledge of ERP and WMS systems (such as IFS)Desirable:
Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous.
Experience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.
FLT/Reach truck qualified.
Awareness of ESD - Electrostatic awareness
