In this role, you will play a vital part in helping us maintain a purposeful and well-managed learning experience for students during the short-term absence of teaching staff. About the Role Working under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, you will supervise whole classes across a range of subjects, delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring students remain focused, on task and engaged in their learning. You will also provide general support to pupils by answering questions, managing behaviour and fostering a positive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Supervising classes for absent teachers and ensuring accurate registration of students Managing the classroom effectively to maintain a positive, safe and productive learning environment in line with Pilton protocols Delivering pre-prepared lesson content and supporting students to complete set work Establishing and maintaining effective communication with students, staff and parents/carers when required What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who brings confidence, reliability, patience and strong communication skills, and who is committed to supporting young people in a busy secondary environment. Essential Experience working with or supporting children or young people Strong literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2 equivalent) Understanding of classroom routines and the needs of young people Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Ability to build positive relationships with both students and adults Desirable Knowledge of the secondary curriculum (Key Stages 3 and 4) Understanding of child development and barriers to learning Experience promoting inclusion or supporting students with additional needs NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent skills/experience) Why Join Us?
