This is an exciting opportunity in the Directorate for Justice to join the Civil Courts, Justice transformation and Inquiries team which supports the courts and inquiries system as well as leading a transformational change programme aimed at system level improvements across the wider justice system. You will be working within a supportive environment to deliver priorities relating to a broad range of aspects of the justice system in Scotland working closely with justice partners. Our collaborative Transformational Change Programme on Criminal Justice System Efficiency, aims to reduce journey times and make the system work better for everyone who experiences it. We lead on a range of projects that take advantage of new digital capabilities. The policy areas regularly attract a high level of Ministerial, media and public interest. Responsibilities Support policy design, development and delivery (incl. strategy, appraisal, impact assessment, monitoring, evaluation etc). Help facilitate collaboration with other areas within government to progress policy outcomes. Lead on the preparation and completion of high-quality briefing to Ministers - providing official support at Committees and Ministerial meetings as required. Governance, risk and financial management to support policy outcomes. Lead reviews of legislation. Deal with Ministerial correspondence, Parliamentary Questions, Freedom of Information requests and other corporate business as required. Lead on responses and take forward actions coordinating responses to legislative/other changes including SSIs. Take forward Secondary Legislation including drafting policy memorandum, completing relevant impact assessment and all other accompanying documents. There is a steady stream of legislative work taken forward in collaboration with UK Government on privileges and immunities of international organisation. Build and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners, including UK Government, Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service, CoPFS and Scottish Civil Justice Council. Secretariat responsibility for Senior Official meetings with Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service and regular Ministerial meetings with the Lord President. Line management for one Policy Support Officer. Experience: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a network of colleagues and stakeholders. Ability to research and collate information from a range of sources to help inform and support the monitoring, evaluation and output analysis of project/policy delivery.
