General Operative / Handyperson
Location: HMP Holme House, Stockton‑on‑Tees (TS18 2QU)
Salary: £27,426 per year + 15% weekend allowance
Type: Permanent, full‑time
We’re recruiting a General Operative / Handyperson to join the Facilities Management team at HMP Holme House. This is a stable role with regular hours, a supportive on‑site team and long‑term work on a Ministry of Justice contract.
Hours
39 hours per week
Mon–Thurs: 7:30am–4:00pm
Fri: 7:30am–3:00pm
1 in 3 weekends (rota) – Sat & Sun 7:45am–4:00pm (paid at +15%)
Responsibilities
* General maintenance and basic repairs
* Support skilled trades on site
* Carry out day‑to‑day FM tasks as directed
Qualifications
* Experience in general maintenance / DIY / handyperson work
* Reliable, practical and willing to learn
* Able to work well as part of a team
* Prison security clearance required and Standard DBS – supported by Amey
