Specifically, to support our Instant Payments products and working on some of the most cutting edge development work happening across the Bank. You will be helping to build, maintain and enhance our Faster Payments Gateway which process a high volume of all transactions across the UK. Join us on our journey and you will too… What you’ll need … Understanding of application development and familiarity with technologies such as Java (ideally Java 17), Spring Boot, Maven, Kafka (including Kafka Streams), RESTful APIs, and web services. Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, preferably within an Agile environment, with some exposure through academic projects, internships, or personal work. Knowledge of development best practices and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts, with familiarity with tools like Jenkins or similar. Ability to write simple to complex, maintainable code and a willingness to learn how to build modular and testable applications. Ability to learn, troubleshoot and diagnose issues using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Kibana. Knowledge of version control systems, especially Git. Good understanding of IT service management concepts, such as Change, Incident, and Problem management. Experience with agile development practices and an interest in learning about test automation tools and techniques (e.g., TDD, BDD, Cucumber, Gherkin). Familiarity with cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Better understanding or interest in container technologies like Kubernetes or OpenShift. Familiarity with testing methodologies such as Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
