Portobello High School is a six-year comprehensive based in the East of Edinburgh with a school roll of over 1500 young people, drawn mainly from five associate primary schools: Brunstane, Duddingston, Parsons Green, Royal High and Towerbank. The school has high-quality facilities used by the community and a strong extra-curricular programme, particularly in the arts and sports. Salary: £34,938 - £52,614
Hours: 35 per week
The post sits in the Expressive Arts faculty within the Music department, alongside Art & Design, Photography and Drama. The curriculum includes S1-S3 BGE, National Qualifications in Music and Music Technology, and a National Progression Award in Music Performing. The department supports a thriving extra-curricular programme with IMS lessons and ensembles including two wind bands, Jazz Band, String Orchestra, Folk Band, Guitar Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and two choirs. There are over 230 pupils taking IMS lessons with a dedicated team of 10 instructors.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
