Overview
Mechanical Design Engineer - Genomics Instrumentation, Cambridge. A growing biotechnology company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of cutting-edge genomics instrumentation. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineering experts, including physicists, electronics engineers, software developers, and life sciences specialists. You will contribute to the design and development of innovative devices that enable high-throughput genomic workflows and precision diagnostics.
Responsibilities
* Apply mechanical engineering expertise to product design and development for genomics instrumentation, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept development and prototyping through to design for manufacture and product launch.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define specifications, evaluate concepts, and deliver robust mechanical solutions.
* Contribute to design verification and validation activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality requirements where applicable.
* Work within environments that may be regulated (ISO 13485, FDA QSR) and align with project milestones and timelines.
Qualifications
* Experience in product design and development, ideally within medical devices, diagnostics, or scientific instrumentation.
* Strong background in mechanical engineering is essential.
* Experience working in regulated environments (ISO 13485, FDA QSR) would be highly beneficial.
* Several years of industry experience with a track record of contributing to the full product lifecycle.
