An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Ophthalmology for North London. The role responsibilities include supervising ST3-4 resident doctors, providing Examination courses, and organising Conferences. The Programme Director will work with the Postgraduate Dean and other stakeholders to lead the delivery of specialty training, ensuring adherence to national Royal College standards and ophthalmology guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the Specialty’s Regional Training Programme.
* Address specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
* Recruitment to training posts and programmes.
* Manage postgraduate programme elements: assessments, progression, rotations, support, remediation, OOP management, trainee career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer, academic training and related work‑streams.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of ophthalmology training across the region, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team.
