Senior Social Worker - Social Care Direct
Location: Wakefield
Why work in Wakefield?
Social Care Direct has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join our team.
Social Care Direct is the first point of contact for all new referrals to Wakefield Council. Your role will involve triaging referrals, providing urgent responses, offering advice and information, and signposting. The role includes triaging requests for social care assessments and safeguarding referrals. As a Senior Social Worker, you may also attend multi-agency meetings and lead in championing new initiatives and team developments. It is expected that you will be a practicing Best Interest Assessor, AMHP, Practice Educator, or ASYE Assessor.
Most work is conducted over the phone, requiring excellent communication skills. The work is varied, fast-paced, and suits those who enjoy short-term and crisis intervention work, with strong time management and prioritization skills. The team does not hold cases, focusing instead on short-term interventions.
The team provides coverage until 7 pm on some evenings and from 9 am to 5 pm on weekends, so some out-of-hours work is expected. We offer flexible working arrangements and opportunities to work from home regularly.
Wakefield Council is committed to supporting staff development through tailored training, an excellent salary with incremental increases, flexible and hybrid working options, and a generous annual leave entitlement.
