Overview
Buyer[1129798] role at WGM Engineering Ltd. Hybrid working capacity based in Glasgow. The overall purpose of the role is to assist the Procurement team by ensuring all purchasing requirements are delivered on time and in full across all business streams to satisfy customer requirements. You will work with existing and new suppliers to develop and improve supply chain flexibility and performance while adhering to client regulations. Reports to the Procurement Category Manager.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Support delivery of WGM output and margin expectations through procurement of goods and/or services using best practice.
* Deliver all performance targets for core external suppliers.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with clients internally and externally.
* Deliver cost and improvement initiatives and pursue more efficient and smarter ways of working.
* Promote best practice procedures to stakeholders throughout the business.
* Produce and maintain supplier development plans including performance targets.
* Increase core competency rating as per training matrix.
* Understand internal and external customer needs; act and provide solutions to prevent future problems.
* Assume end-to-end procurement responsibility to meet and exceed customer expectations, focusing on quality, on-time delivery and value for money.
* Provide and maintain accurate pricing tools and MOUs for core suppliers.
* Maintain supplier performance processes for core suppliers.
* Provide industry and market feedback, advising the business on new innovations, products and services available.
* Handle queries from internal and external parties.
* Manage safety in line with company policies.
Requirements
To be considered for this position you will have at least 1-2 years of experience in a similar procurement or buyer role, ideally within an engineering or construction environment. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate will be a team player and able to operate independently. You will have excellent communication skills and a good understanding of supply chain processes and procedures.
