Role: Communication Coordinator – Building Safety

Overview

Bellway’s Building Safety Division in Dartford has been established to rectify building safety issues across our legacy portfolio of medium and high‑rise apartment buildings nationally.


Job Purpose

The Communication Coordinator is responsible for day‑to‑day coordination and ownership of building safety stakeholder and leaseholder communication, ensuring accurate, timely delivery in line with internal requirements and relevant guidance.


Principal Accountabilities

* Provide regular updates in multiple media formats to building stakeholders during the survey and pre‑construction stage.
* Liaise with the Building Safety team to gather information for newsletters, updates and other communications.
* Support the Managing Director / Technical Director in wider communication strategies and template development.
* Manage the Building Safety inbox, ensuring all emails are answered professionally and managed appropriately.
* Log complaints and queries from customers, managing agents, solicitors, etc. on the Excel Building Safety Tracker, updating as required.
* Hold regular meetings with the Technical lead on complaints or queries related to their developments.
* Take ownership of escalated and complex complaints/issues, responding through to resolution.
* Liaise with external solicitors regarding Landlord Certificates.
* Produce and issue letters and updates to managing agents.
* Monitor and update the Technical Director/MD on response time scales (30 days, 30‑60 days, over 60 days).
* Liaise with the Group Head of Communications on information for the monthly Board Report.
* File relevant documentation appropriately and upload to the company system.
* Other duties as reasonably expected.


Experience, Qualifications and Skills

* Experience working in a customer care environment or PR coordinator role.
* Experience in the construction industry is advantageous.
* GCSE Maths and English – Grade C or above (or equivalent).
* A customer care or public relations qualification would be advantageous.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to build robust working relationships with internal and external customers.
* Excellent administration, organisation and attention to detail, able to generate professional correspondence unaided.
* Self‑starter, initiative, motivation, collaborative teamwork.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Proficient IT skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and ability to adapt to new systems.
* Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
