To provide 2 to 1 support for a gentleman with complex care needs. The aim of the service is to deliver the highest standards of care, support, quality of life, and health and wellbeing.
Employees should be enthusiastic about working as part of a team focused on supporting the gentleman to achieve his goals and aspirations. Staff will receive training tailored to their needs and mentoring from management and senior support staff, with ongoing support from the Manager.
The service adopts a person-centred approach to support the gentleman in achieving positive outcomes. Building a good rapport with him is essential, which he generously facilitates.
The gentleman is supported in maintaining an independent, personalized lifestyle both at home and in the community. The Positive Emotional and Person-centred approach emphasizes achievement and positive outcomes for the gentleman, support staff, and all partnerships.
Remuneration: £18.20 per hour
Responsibilities
1. Complete all mandatory training courses.
2. Assist with dressing, undressing, bathing, washing, oral hygiene, and hair maintenance.
3. Maintain high standards of hygiene and adhere to infection control measures.
4. Provide stoma and catheter care.
5. Administer medication and perform other health-related activities.
6. Assist with manual handling and transfers.
7. Support eating, meal preparation, and nutrition.
8. Handle personal possessions appropriately.
9. Manage relevant documentation in line with policies and procedures.
10. Actively promote and support team working.
11. Respect the family home environment, privacy, and maintain confidentiality, treating family members and colleagues with dignity.
12. Provide communication and emotional support.
13. Support education, social inclusion, activities, and therapy.
14. Assist with basic household tasks related to the gentleman.
15. Undertake bespoke training to perform tasks such as administration of fluids and medication via PEG, gastrostomy feeding, controlled drugs administration, bladder washes, advanced positioning, decision-making in the absence of RI, and completing staff rotas.
16. Act as a mentor and positive role model to support staff.
17. Contribute to reviews, policies, and protocols to enhance care delivery.
Qualifications
QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent as a minimum requirement.
