Job Title: Yard Operative with FLT Counterbalance – Trade Counter (Builders Merchant)
Location: Congleton, Cheshire.
Hours: Monday to Friday – 07:00 to 16:00/17:00 | Saturday – 08:00 to 12:00
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
About the Role:
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Yard Operative with FLT Counterbalance to join a well-established Builders Merchant operating at their site in Congleton. This exciting role offers a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast-paced trade environment, assisting both trade and retail customers with their building material needs.
As a Yard Operative, you will be locating stock throughout a large yard, catergorising at necessary, and moving stock to suit customer and client needs. You’ll also be responsible for advising on products, processing orders, and ensuring that customers get the materials they need to complete their projects efficiently. As an FLT Counterbalance Driver, you will also be providing support during busy periods with this.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide knowledgeable and friendly service to customers on the trade counter and out on the yard.
2. Advise customers on a range of construction materials and equipment, ensuring they receive the best solutions for their needs.
3. Moving stock around the yard.
4. Support the team in stock management and product displays.
5. Maintain excellent product knowledge and stay up-to-date with new items and stock levels.
6. Operate a Forklift to move products around the site and locate items of customers.
Ideal Candidate:
7. FLT Counterbalance experience is essential, preferably in a builders merchants environment.
8. A solid understanding of construction materials and equipment would be an advantage, though full training will be provided.
9. Hold a valid FLT Counterbalance licence with over 12 months experience.
10. Excellent communication skills.
11. A positive attitude and a proactive approach to customer service.
