We are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual to join our client's operations team as a Transport Planner. This role is pivotal in planning, booking, and confirming shipments across continental routes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery that exceeds customer expectations.
This role is full-time office-based in West Hull.
Your new role
1. Proactively plan shipments, securing space with suppliers to meet customer needs.
2. Offer alternative solutions for shipments that cannot meet booked transit times.
3. Coordinate batch empty moves
4. Issue timely booking instructions to avoid operational issues.
5. Liaise with intermodal suppliers to ensure clarity and accuracy of bookings.
6. Maintainmunication with operations departments regarding booking updates.
7. Monitor urgent shipments and ensure timely arrival at terminals.
8. Flag and resolve delays in coordination with relevant departments.
9. Investigate and document reasons for non-shipments.
10. Re-plan and re-book units as necessary.
11. Maintain on-time delivery (OTD) within assigned parameters.
What you'll need to succeed
Knowledge and experience of working within customs legislation is beneficial, and the ideal candidate will have previously worked within a logistics setting.
