Role Overview
This hands-on role is crucial to the smooth running of our poultry units and packing areas. You will undertake both planned and reactive maintenance, ensure equipment reliability, support bird welfare, and occasionally assist with stockperson duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair poultry and packing equipment, including egg belts, printers, packers, and associated machinery.
* Monitor equipment for unusual sounds or performance issues, conduct fail-safe checks, and carry out minor building and structural repairs.
* Ensure bird welfare by responding to system alarms, maintaining lighting, ventilation, temperature, feed, and water systems, and ensuring safe housing conditions.
* Manage manure removal efficiently and safely.
* Maintain biosecurity and hygiene standards, and keep accurate records of maintenance, observations, and incidents.
* Carry out general repairs to facilities, promote environmental sustainability, support team targets, and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
Skills & Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have previous maintenance or repair experience, with relevant qualifications advantageous. You should be able to work under pressure, use your initiative, and have strong numeracy, literacy, and organisational skills. A hands-on approach, proactive attitude, and the ability to follow biosecurity and hygiene procedures are essential.
Training & Development
You will complete a comprehensive six-week induction covering safety, biosecurity, record keeping, and equipment competence, with ongoing opportunities to develop skills in maintenance, welfare, and farm operations.
