Locality Designer
Role: 9047 | Contract: Permanent | Hours: 37 per week | Salary: £31,537 to £33,699 per annum (Scale G) | Site: Saddlebow Depot
Responsibilities
We are looking for an organised and self‑motivated individual to join the Highways Maintenance team as a Locality Designer. The Highway Area teams deliver highway maintenance and street works functions for the County Council as Highway Authority. You will work with in‑house and partnership staff to deliver works required, including highway inspection, scheme design, identification, member and public interface, supervision of works (including utilities), traffic management inspection and monitoring of all works affecting the public highway. You will also be responsible for winter and emergency planning, emergency situations such as flooding or winter conditions, and deliver the service outside normal working hours when required.
Additional duties involve travelling to operational delivery queries, customer service requests and places not accessible by public transport. The role offers varied daily tasks and the opportunity to gain key knowledge and progression within the authority.
Qualifications
Preferable: experience of working in highway design functions, highway maintenance, construction or a similar engineering environment. Full training will be given. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver high‑quality customer service are essential.
