Job overview

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Band 7 Sleep Ventilation and Respiratory Physiotherapist to join the Therapy team at St Barthlomew’s Hospital for up to12 months ending November 2026. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated physiotherapist to join our busy sleep ventilation team working primarily on the elective respiratory and sleep ventilation ward and daycase unit at St Barthlomew’s Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be a dedicated, innovative, passionate, skilled and motivated clinician with experience within Respiratory Medicine and Sleep Ventilation. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care that they provide within the framework of our multi-disciplinary team. They will work closely with the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and contribute towards the development of the service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy
2. State registered (HCPC)
3. Fulfils KSF outline for Physiotherapist (Band 7)
4. CRB clearance
5. Clinical Educators Qualification
6. Post graduate experience
7. NIV experience acute/ domiciliary
8. Relevant band 6 post experience in any respiratory area
9. Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)

Desirable criteria

10. Member of the CSP, ACPRC
11. Supervision Training
12. Post graduate formal qualification (i.e. MSc Module)
13. Leadership training
14. Relevant validated clinical courses accredited as equivalent to masters level

Experience

Essential criteria

15. Understanding of cardiorespiratory physiology and pathophysiology specific to post
16. Core Skills in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
17. Ability to assess and treat complex patients in the respiratory/critical care field
18. Supervision of students
19. Ability to pass on skills/knowledge to others within formal and informal environments
20. Excellent organisational and leadership skills
21. Good IT skills
22. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
23. Ability to work independently Able to organise, prioritise own workload
24. Experience in delegating appropriately to otherse field Supervision of
