Full Job Description
Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in Northumberland.
Multiple positions are available, and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support.
We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs)/ SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties).
We are looking for SEN / SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Northumberland.
At Targeted Provision, our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN / SEND Support Specialists.
This role is perfect for qualified SEN / SEND teachers eager to work via 1:1 tutoring with children and young people with a variety of learning needs, in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner, to raise their engagement and improve their educational outlook.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role:
* Providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other additional needs referred by local authorities and schools
* Supporting these young people via flexible, holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring
SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities:
* Planning each session of teaching, tutoring, or mentoring
* Providing holistic and engaging sessions tailored to their needs, supporting their educational and social-emotional development
* Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on progress
SEN / SEND Tutor requirements:
* Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
* Minimum 2 years teaching experience
* Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other needs
* Understanding of safeguarding processes
* Enhanced DBS (assistance available to obtain at cost)
* Two professional references
* Must be based in the UK with the right to work, including for remote/online work
It is a strict requirement that you promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people, following safeguarding policies at all times.
SEN / SEND Tutor employment status:
* Engagement as a Worker for short-term assignments
* Paid via PAYE, no set work amount or expenses covered
* Insurance covers your work with us
* Not a self-employed position
