About the Hotel

Manor of Groves Hotel, Golf and Health Club offers a peaceful and tranquil setting in the Hertfordshire countryside. The hotel boasts 80 bedrooms all comfortable and contemporarily styled and an onsite leisure club which includes a fitness suite, steam room, sauna and an indoor swimming pool as well as a beauty Spa. We also offer an 18 hole Championship Golf Course which is designed around the hotel and provides a challenging, yet enjoyable experience, regardless of handicap

We offer conference and banqueting facilities; catering for up to 400 guests, we can host all types of events; from weddings, training workshops, exhibitions to private dinners and balls

A Receptionist shall provide outstanding customer service whilst adhering to hotel standards. You will have knowledge of the hotel services and ensure that the guest journey during their stay with the hotel is smooth and guided by the correct information, services and help.

The successful Receptionist will undertake the following duties:

* Register guests and assigns rooms. Accommodates special requests whenever possible.
* Assists in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations.
* Thoroughly understand and adhere to proper credit check- cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures.
* Understand room status and room status tracking.
* Know room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
* Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel like breakfast, transportation bookings, dinner.
* Know the location and types of available rooms as well as the activities and services of the property.
* Coordinate with other departments in depending on the guest needs and room cleanliness needs.
* Possess a working knowledge of the reservations department. Take same day reservations and future reservations when necessary. Know cancellation procedures.
* Receive, screen all incoming phone calls and connect them to appropriate personnel.
* Sort out and hand over important packages, deliveries.
* Performing cashier related functions like posting charges to guest accounts, understanding if there is any outstanding balance and follow up to receive payment.
* Works closely with the housekeeping department in the keeping room status reports
* Uses proper telephone etiquette and greeting face to face etiquette.
* Advice guest of any messages, mail, faxes, etc. received for them.
* Issue parking passes/validate valet parking tickets.
* Communicate services and amenities of the hotel to guests.
* Is aware of daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel.
* Handover before finishing the shift with the colleagues taking over the shift to ensure good communication and best guest service.
* Attend department meetings and updates and trainings.
* Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the line manager or Manager on Duty or Operations Manager.
* Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area.
* Able to handle leisure complex receptionist responsibilities in maintaining H&S and advising guests about H&S while they are using leisure complex facilities

Skills and requirements

* Exceptional customer care skills.
* Ability to work in a busy environment
* Knowledge of Local area
* Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the hotel
* Constantly improve knowledge and show a desire to learn, attend company's trainings
* Take a responsible approach towards timekeeping and attendance to ensure the department runs efficiently, and assist in the event of absence cover
* Maintain high levels of enthusiasm and commitment to every task undertaken
* Good communication skills
* Proficiency in English Language is strongly preferred
* Rezlinks PMS and EPOS system experience is preferable
* Previous experience in hotel environment is a requisite
