Overview
The County Council is looking to recruit an Assistant Engineer who will work alongside our Design Engineers. Assisting with the selection, design and delivery of an annual programme of carriageway and footway resurfacing works. Improving the highway network for Gloucestershire residents. The role also supports the wider highway team by providing treatment advice and cost estimates for the highways service. The role provides a balance of site and office based activities. As Assistant Engineer you will be supporting the Structural Maintenance Team, operating right across the County. There is a variety of work estimating future scheme costs, ordering works from our Resurfacing and Term Maintenance Contractors as well as carrying out site checks during the delivery phase.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the selection, design and delivery of an annual programme of carriageway and footway resurfacing works; support the wider highway team by providing treatment advice and cost estimates; balance site and office based activities.
* Support the Structural Maintenance Team across the County; estimate future scheme costs; order works from Resurfacing and Term Maintenance Contractors; carry out site checks during the delivery phase.
Requirements
* Relevant experience in highways and emergency management.
* Committed to excellent customer service.
* Fluent English for customer facing role as required by the Immigration Act 2016: ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence.
