Basic salary up to A GBP 40,000 per annum.
Location: Aberdare, Wales. Remote: UK-wide travel.
Sectors: Automotive, Aerospace, Transport, and Energy.
The Role
High-impact, commercially focused Business Development Manager role for expanding battery testing services across automotive, aerospace, transport, renewable energy, grid, and special project markets.
Responsible for promoting and expanding battery testing services to both existing and new customers, working closely with senior leadership to secure and grow long‑term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote battery testing services to stakeholders including procurement teams, senior managers, engineers, and technical specialists.
* Engage with influencers and government bodies, including funders and relevant trade organisations.
* Identify and develop new markets and present technical service offerings to prospective customers.
* Work closely with the General Manager to prepare and respond to tenders, ensuring competitive and high‑quality submissions.
* Support the development and execution of sales strategies, including the expansion of consultancy and support services.
* Build, maintain, and effectively manage a customer database to maximise commercial opportunities.
* Use prospecting tools to assess potential customer spend and support budgeting and forecasting.
* Maintain accurate sales activity records and produce regular reports.
* Monitor service and product development, contributing ideas for new services and continuous improvement.
* Share customer and project intelligence internally to support cross‑selling opportunities, particularly with battery materials and related teams.
About You
To succeed in this role you should bring a strong blend of sales experience, technical understanding, and commercial drive.
* Previous business development or sales experience within testing or technical services sectors.
* Good technical understanding of battery testing methods, standards, and current industry requirements.
* A confident, proactive, and commercially focused approach with a flexible, can‑do mindset.
* The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
* High attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
