Job Title: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager

Purpose of the Role
As the Health, Safety & Environment Manager, you will be the driving force behind creating a culture of safety, sustainability, and compliance across a large, fast-moving processing site.
You’ll lead the site’s HSE strategy, ensuring that best practice becomes business as usual, safeguarding people, protecting the environment, and supporting continuous operational improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and continuously improve the site’s HSE strategy in line with legal, group, and customer standards.
* Act as the site’s subject matter expert on all HSE matters, advising the senior leadership team and influencing cultural change.
* Ensure full compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, Group standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Lead site inspections, risk assessments, and audits, ensuring findings are actioned and lessons shared.
* Own key performance indicators for safety and environmental performance, delivering measurable improvement.
* Champion a proactive safety culture where every colleague takes responsibility for their own and others’ wellbeing.
* Organise and deliver training (e.g., IOSH, manual handling, fire marshal, confined spaces) to embed best practice.
* Lead communication and engagement initiatives that make HSE relevant, visible, and valued on the shop floor.
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 4 (minimum).
* Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) preferred or working towards.
Experience
* Proven HSE leadership in a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environment.
* Strong understanding of operational and engineering processes.
* Demonstrated success influencing and partnering with operational teams to improve safety performance.
