Offer description

We are looking for a Social Work Consultant to join our first team transforming the way we work with children, young people and families. This could be the right role for you! HOW WILL THE TEAM BE WORKING? In Durham we are keen to explore a new way of working. As the National Framework and the principles of Working Together describe, we want to shift the dial to support more children to stay safely with their families and see better outcomes. In this role you will be helping us try out a new approach to Family Help, with an emphasis on working collaboratively with the whole family, offering a clear plan and meaningful support to prevent escalation and improve outcomes. Your feedback will be hugely important in helping us to keep developing our approach. WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE ROLE? As a Social Work Consultant you will be part of a new leadership team, with a focus on creating a nurturing learning culture and promoting relational, strengths based, trauma aware practise. You will: Work in partnership with the team manager to manage a team which carries out meaningful and rewarding work which achieves the best outcomes for children. Play a key role in developing the practice of front-line social care practitioners by developing, maintaining and championing expertise in specific areas of work with children and families; by driving excellent practice based on research evidence and professional experience; and, by supporting achievement of improved outcomes for vulnerable children and their families. Build and maintain successful working relationships with colleagues from a wide range of agencies. WHAT DO OFSTED SAY ABOUT US? You will be joining us at a fantastic time. Inspectors have just judged our Children’s Services as outstanding. You can read the full report here https://files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50276863 Inspectors said that: “There is an unwavering corporate commitment to improving and enriching the lives of children and their families evidenced by the significant and sustained investment in children’s services. This has enabled the development of a wide range of very successful initiatives that are having a positive impact on children and their families, whatever their level of need.” “The focus on keeping children at the heart of everything has led to the development of highly effective services that are having a lasting impact on the lives of many children, particularly children in care and care leavers. Children are influential in the development of the service. Staff at all levels are valued and very well supported, resulting in a positive culture where workers can practise safely and make a positive impact on children’s lives.” “Social workers told inspectors that Durham is a great place to work. Their words and actions convey a sense of belonging and they view Durham as their employer of choice.” HOW WILL I BE SUPPORTED? We are passionate about social work in County Durham.
