Job Title: Category Buyer
Contract Type: 12-month FTC
Location: Alderley Park or Edinburgh
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We have a 12-month Fixed Term Contract available for a Category Buyer to join the Procurement team on a temporary basis. Working with a team, you will be responsible for providing procurement support and specific procurement activities to deliver cost reductions and maximize overall commercial value from third-party contracts.
You’ll lead low to medium spend and low to medium risk procurement projects while building expertise through producing spend reports and researching suppliers to support the procurement process. You will also handle additional administrative tasks to support the Business Services and IT Procurement Teams.
About the role
1. Assist in the end-to-end tendering process, including contract and price negotiations with third-party suppliers.
2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the procurement process and effectively execute it, becoming a trusted resource for stakeholders.
3. Act as procurement lead for low to medium spend and risk category projects and services.
4. Deliver high-quality service to stakeholders, building strong relationships within Royal London and with key SMEs such as Risk, Finance, and Legal.
5. Create and present category spend reports to Procurement Managers to support their initiatives.
6. Support Procurement Managers in designing, leading, and implementing sourcing arrangements for designated spend categories.
7. Assist in maintaining a team-wide workload management and reporting tool.
About you
1. Good commercial acumen.
2. Excellent PC skills, especially with the Microsoft Office suite.
3. Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external business relationships.
4. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, capable of analyzing complex information.
5. Excellent planning and organizational skills, managing multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
6. Act with integrity and represent the Procurement team professionally.
7. Passion for Procurement and a curious, commercial mindset.
