JBA Consulting is an independent company that prioritizes sustainability in environmental and engineering services. Our growing Landscape and Arboriculture team is seeking enthusiastic Landscape Architects with demonstrable postgraduate consultancy experience. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of professionals, developing innovative solutions to enhance resilience against climate change effects.
Our projects primarily focus on the water environment, including management of coastal and fluvial erosion and flooding, utilizing nature-based solutions such as sustainable drainage, river restoration, and natural water management. We also work with teams delivering green and blue infrastructure, urban regeneration, residential development, renewable energy, and transport infrastructure projects.
Location
This position can be based in any of our offices located in Portsmouth, Newport (South Wales), Coleshill, Saltaire, Newcastle, or Edinburgh, depending on the candidate's location. JBA supports agile working arrangements to provide greater flexibility.
Qualifications and Experience
Key Competencies Required:
* Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, including graphical communication
* Ability to lead projects from inception to completion
* Engagement with clients to understand requirements and develop project briefs collaboratively
* Leadership in meetings, effectively communicating technical and business issues
* Experience in leading small teams, planning approaches, and delivering outputs within scope and schedule
* Ability to work independently and in teams, reviewing work for standards compliance, and mentoring junior staff
* Proficiency in liaising with clients, stakeholders, and regulators via various communication channels
* Alignment with JBA’s goal to positively impact colleagues, clients, suppliers, and the communities we serve
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
* A recognized degree in Landscape Architecture (or equivalent)
* Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) or on the Pathway to Chartership (P2C)
* Full UK driving license
* A varied portfolio, preferably including water management schemes
* Experience in designing and implementing both hard and soft landscape works
* Knowledge of preparing materials for planning applications (outline, full, reserved matters)
* Proficiency with design software to communicate landscape proposals from concept to detailed design and construction
* Commitment to sustainable and innovative solutions
* Ability to organize, plan, and undertake site surveys, including risk assessments
* Experience in landscape planning and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is advantageous
* Interest in preparing tender submissions is a plus
