About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fire Alarm/Service Engineer to join our expanding team. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality fire protection services in conjunction with a major local housing association, helping to ensure the safety of residents across their extensive property portfolio.
This field-based role involves the installation, testing, servicing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including fire alarms and emergency lighting. You'll work across multiple residential sites, supporting both the housing association and our wider client base, to guarantee compliance, safety, and peace of mind for the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, maintain, service, and repair fire alarms, emergency lighting, and related systems across housing association properties and other client sites
* Diagnose faults and resolve issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to residents
* Work with leading fire protection manufacturers and technologies
* Ensure all work meets regulatory standards and internal quality benchmarks
* Maintain professional communication with clients, residents, and team members
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues
* Conduct inspections to assess system safety, functionality, and compliance
* Stay informed on industry developments and technical innovations
What We're Looking For
* Competence in using power tools, electrical equipment, and hand tools
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
* High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to working in residential environments
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Full UK driving licence (or equivalent) is essential
* Positive, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic
* Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years' experience in the fire protection industry (preferred but not essential)
* Knowledge of a range of fire protection systems and manufacturers
* Certifications such as IPAF, CSCS/ECS, FIA, or City & Guilds are advantageous
* Applicants with expertise in one discipline will be considered, provided they are open to further training
