An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Pan Dorset Learning Disabilities Intensive Support Team (IST).
We are looking for a motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist who is passionate about improving outcomes for adults with learning disabilities and young people in transition. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing specialist assessment and intervention to individuals with complex needs, including behaviours that may challenge services. You will work closely with individuals, families, carers and partner agencies to promote independence, wellbeing and meaningful participation in daily life.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist, you will:
* Undertake holistic, person-centred occupational therapy assessments
* Develop and implement strengths-based intervention plans
* Support individuals to build skills in self-care, daily living, leisure and social participation
* Work in a trauma-informed and Positive Behaviour Support framework
* Deliver interventions in home and community settings
* Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, formulation and care planning
* Support families, carers and provider services to meet individuals’ needs
* Contribute to safe and sustainable community placements
* Support transition planning and discharge pathways
The ideal candidate will be:
* HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
* Committed to person-centred and inclusive practice
* Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Organised, reflective and motivated to learn
* Confident communicating with individuals, families and professionals
* Able to travel across Dorset as required
Experience of working with people with learning disabilities through employment, student placements or lived experience would be advantageous.
Driving is essential for this role. You will be required to have a full and valid UK driving licence and to travel using your own vehicle on Trust business.
