We’re seeking a proactive Group Health & Safety Manager to lead our commitment to health and safety excellence across all Henry Boot businesses. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on collaboration, continuous improvement, and making a real impact.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement the Group Health & Safety policy in partnership with key stakeholders.
* Oversee subsidiary teams to ensure appropriate H&S policies are in place and adhered to.
* Liaise with external H&S providers to ensure our interests are represented and delivered.
* Create and write H&S reports as required.
* Ensure a safe workplace environment for our people, clients, contractors, and the public.
* Monitor, maintain, and periodically review all health and safety policies, processes, and risk assessments.
* Ensure statutory obligations are met, including training and reporting.
* Carry out quality assurance activities, including workplace inspections and audit schedules.
* Support all businesses to implement best practice H&S management consistently.
* Manage emergency procedures, respond to incidents, investigate accidents, and liaise with relevant authorities.
* Contribute to health and safety training, deliver sessions, and develop an annual calendar of toolbox talks and e-learning modules.
* Advise the Board and ExCo on health and safety legislation, policy, and management systems.
* Review and maintain the H&S risk register in collaboration with the Head of Risk.
* Evaluate health and safety performance, track recommendations, and ensure full implementation.
* Perform due diligence on contractors and consultants to minimise risk.
* Complete routine health and safety sampling and ensure timely action on findings.
* Prepare health and safety performance reports and ensure recommendations are implemented.
* Establish and monitor KPIs, reporting progress and highlighting areas for improvement.
Competencies & Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma;
* Attained CertIOSH or actively working towards;
* Able to attain CMAPS;
* An understanding of environmental legislative framework and requirements;
* Driven and collaborative;
* Have working knowledge of the Building Regulation framework;
* Comfortable operating autonomously, with a high degree of motivation and problem solving skills;
* Excellent knowledge of the HSWA and subordinate regulations;
* Principles of the Building Safety Act 2022, and its application;
* Relevant CSCS Card;
* Shows initiative and capable of working without supervision; prepared to take responsibility for tasks;
* Excellent communication skills as the role will involve liaising closely with both internal and external contacts at all levels;
* Proactive approach and prompt and effective responses to each operating subsidiary needs;
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel;
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of HS&E delivery;
* Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to cope with a number of tasks at once, meeting deadlines as required
