N/A Number of positions 1 Unit ADM Duration of assignment 6 months Any other working conditions - travel/on call/shifts (with travels if required) To be published on job boards from below onwards The Role The Environment Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and maintaining all non-production environments (DEV, QA, SIT, UAT, Pre-Prod) to support development, testing, and release activities. This role ensures environment stability, availability, configuration consistency, and timely provisioning of environments. Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance ; active SC clearance is desirable but not mandatory. Your responsibilities: 1. Environment Planning & Coordination Own and manage the full environment roadmap across development, testing, integration, and pre-production stages. Coordinate provisioning, refreshes, patching, upgrades, data loads, and configuration changes. Work with project managers, release managers, test leads, and architects to plan environment usage and booking. Ensure environment readiness for project milestones, sprints, and release cycles. 2. Environment Configuration & Management Maintain configuration integrity across all test environments. Implement and maintain environment baselines, including application versions, infrastructure, middleware, APIs, and integrations. Manage environment access, permissions, and secure data handling for SC-eligible environments. Ensure environment stability, monitoring, uptime, and prompt issue resolution. 3. Issue Resolution & Technical Support Serve as the primary point of contact for environment-related issues. Troubleshoot environment failures, deployments, configuration issues, data mismatches, and connectivity problems. Work with DevOps, Infrastructure, Network, Database, and Application teams to diagnose and resolve issues. Analyse logs, environment health metrics, integrations, and dependencies. 4. Governance, Compliance & Change Management Ensure all environment changes follow ITIL-aligned change control processes. Maintain detailed documentation: environment diagrams, version matrices, access logs, and configuration records. Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements for SC-eligible programmes. Support audits, evidence gathering, and environment-related reporting. 5. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities for environment automation, self-service provisioning, and better monitoring. Implement standardisation across environments (naming, configuration, patching cadence). Improve environment stability and reduce downtime through proactive maintenance and capacity planning. Key Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills 58 years of experience managing test and non-production environments in enterprise settings. Strong understanding of application architecture, integrations, APIs, and infrastructure layers. Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) and deployment pipelines. Good knowledge of databases (SQL), networks, environments on cloud and on-prem platforms. Experience managing middleware, API gateways, microservices environments, and configuration management. Knowledge of ITIL processes and environment governance. Soft Skills Strong coordination and stakeholder communication skills. Highly organised; able to manage multiple environments and demands simultaneously. Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset. Ability to work under pressure during major releases and environment outages. SC Clearance Eligibility Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance, generally requiring: Minimum 5 years of continuous UK residency Clean criminal history Clean financial/credit background Ability to meet all UK government vetting standards Active SC clearance is desirable but not mandatory.
