BHF CRE interdisciplinary PhD studentships in cardiovascular sciences (non-clinical)
Applications are invited for 3-year non-clinical PhD studentships based at Cambridge University. The BHF Cambridge Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) is a world-leading interdisciplinary research centre focused on understanding pathobiology, diagnosis, prevention and therapy of cardiovascular disease, using clinical, experimental, population and data sciences.
The CRE Research Themes
* Mobilising and translating discoveries from multi-omic cohorts
* Targeting inflammation in cardiovascular disease
* Advanced therapeutics for cardiac repair and regeneration
* Cardiometabolic syndromes: Exposome and molecular mechanisms linking Obesity, Diabetes, HFpEF, NAFLD, and NASH
* Applied Cardiovascular Health Research
Research proposals should cross traditional disciplines or involve two or more CRE themes. PhD students will be jointly supervised by two investigators, with at least one being a BHF CRE eligible supervisor. Applicants are advised to contact potential supervisors to discuss research interests, develop a proposal, and obtain endorsement for the proposal.
Qualifications
* Hold at least a first or upper second-class degree from a UK university or an equivalent standard from an overseas university in a subject relevant to the proposed area of study. Please ensure you meet the University of Cambridge entrance requirements.
* UK and non-UK applicants who meet residency requirements may be eligible for full funding, with home-fee tuition covered. International applicants may apply but should budget for overseas tuition fees or secure additional funding.
Funding and stipend
* Annual stipend at the BHF rate (£21,114 in year 1 rising to £24,696)
* Consumables/other costs allowance
