We are looking for a flexible individual with excellent communication skills and a willingness to work with the senior team to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Provide skilled care to patients throughout their perioperative journey.
Maintain safe and effective patient care, ensuring that working practices conform to theatre and trust policies and procedures. Maintain accurate and legible records of care in line with Trust policy and NMC/HCPC Codes of Conduct and Standards of Proficiencies.
Actively be involved in monitoring and promoting high standards of care, including audits. Mentor students as well as new members of staff within the department. Maintain a culture in which infection control is intrinsic to care delivery and is monitored in line with trust policy.
The post includes commitment to the department’s Sister off duty for both weekends and night shift. Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call service which covers emergencies and the liver transplant service.
Responsibilities
* Support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse / Senior ODP with professional accountability and standards, ensuring professional practices in line with the requirements of the NMC / HCPC and the Trust.
* Ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care.
* Support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse / Senior ODP to maintain environmental standards and cleanliness in line with national and Trust standards in the ward / department.
* Act as a deputy and effectively manage the Department / Theatre resource when the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse / Senior ODP is absent.
* Support the development of patient care and peri‑operative practice within the Department / Theatre, contributing to Trust projects where required.
* Support the development of junior staff or students, ensuring appropriate supervision and assessment is available.
* Work as part of the liver transplant team.
* Provide effective support and leadership to staff, patients and carers within the Theatre or Department.
* Act as a role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students.
* Ensure systems are in place to provide continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times.
* Be an effective member of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* May be required to participate in an on‑call rota as required.
Qualifications
* Experience within Anaesthetics is essential due to the complexity of the work.
* Commitment to providing safe and effective patient care according to theatre and trust policies.
* Ability to maintain accurate and legible records in line with Trust policy and NMC/HCPC Codes of Conduct.
* Experience mentoring students and supporting junior staff.
* Ability to manage the Department / Theatre resource as a deputy.
Working hours: 37 hours 30 minutes per week with flexibility to accommodate the service and patient needs.
